Thursday 14th July – bike ***** – Two rivers including lunch at Felixstowe Ferry – sunny periods and warm.

With fairly light offshores winds with sunny periods windsurfing could be forgotten today so after the usual morning at home I made egg sandwiches and set off just past midday. As we are a bit early for lunch we take the longer route to Felixstowe Ferry though Abbey wood, the Grove before whizzing down Marsh lane with the wheat coming on well looking great against some big Suffolk sky’s with great clouds:) We bumped along the Deben path to Felixstowe Ferry past the busy jetty to our spot by the River for lunch, our place by the rocks was taken so we sat on the beach to enjoy our yummy egg sandwiches and with the tide high there was lots of boat action including yachts coming in with full sail and a line of 5 motor cruisers heading out! It’s always a great spot for a picnic, then well rested to continue along the prom past The Dip and around to the Fludgers which is fairly busy with people enjoying the good weather. Mag turns up Bent Hill while I continued onto The River Orwell as a large container ship came in. Through Landguard Nature Reserve as the ship slowly enter Felixstowe docks helped by a couple of tugs! I have never seen such a tatty looking ship, really rusty as it passed the Ever Art. Then I returned home through Langer Park to find Mag reading in the garden with our two cats:)
